Breakout
From Pilot to Policy: What Cities Learn When Autonomous Security Moves Downtown

Municipalities across the U.S. are under increasing pressure to enhance public safety while managing staffing shortages, constrained budgets and heightened expectations for transparency and accountability. Autonomous security technologies are often discussed as part of the solution, yet many cities struggle to move beyond pilots into scalable, policy-aligned deployments.

This session examines what actually happens when autonomous security is deployed in a major U.S. downtown and allowed to scale based on outcomes rather than hype. Drawing from the city of Cleveland, Ohio’s multi-phase deployment in and around Public Square and adjacent districts, this discussion explores the operational, governance and policy lessons learned as AI-driven security systems were integrated into an existing municipal safety ecosystem and expanded following measurable results and public visibility.
