Interdependency: The Emerging Operational Security Dependencies Between Data Centers and Electric Utilities and Societal Risks
Critical interdependencies are the cyber and physical security challenge of our time. Two, in particular, provide some of the greatest threats to societal function at this point in history— data centers and utilities. Their operations are no longer mutually exclusive but inexorably intertwined for the life, health and safety of communities (local, state and federal). Understanding this interdependency for first responders and governmental officials will assist in developing wholistic crisis response plans that take into account the cascading affects that one can have upon the other.
