James Rothstein, chair of the Security Industry Association (SIA) Board of Directors, has served as operating partner for Lee Equity, a New York-based private equity firm, since March 2021. Prior to joining Lee Equity Partners, he served as the senior vice president of global security solutions for Anixter, where he held P&L responsibilities for the firm’s $2 billion global security and fire business. In his role at Anixter, Rothstein was also responsible for global supplier and product management, sales leadership, strategic planning and the overall marketing and positioning of Anixter’s global security business.

Rothstein had previously served as the chief sales and marketing officer, executive vice president and principal for Tri-Ed Distribution, the largest independent security distributor in North America, which was then sold to Anixter in 2015. During his time at Tri-Ed, he led sales and helped grow revenues by more than six-fold and engineered the acquisition of 10 distribution firms across the U.S.

Before joining Tri-Ed in 2004, Rothstein served as the vice president of marketing for Fatwire Software, an enterprise software solution later acquired by Oracle. His earlier experience included nearly a decade at Honeywell’s ADI division, where he served as the vice president of marketing and general manager of intrusion and access control products, responsible for the brand’s revenues, brand reputation, acquisition strategies and partner relationships.

Rothstein holds a B.S. in economics from Colgate University, and in addition to his service on SIA’s board of directors, he is an advisory board member for Mission 500.
