FICAM Compliance for Physical Access Control Systems (PACS): Where We Are and How We Got Here
10:30am–11:15am
This panel discussion will focus on the current state of the Federal Government’s Implementation of Identity, Credential and Access Management (FICAM) adoption including the latest standards, publications and policies related to compliance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPD-12). Panelists will share firsthand experiences in the development and implementation of FICAM and FIPS 201 from both the public and private sector perspective. Many elements are required to attain full compliance with a physical access control system (PACS). The migration to enterprise PACS requires answers to important questions such as what upgrades need to happen versus what infrastructure can be reused, use one PACS or multiple systems, choose on premises versus cloud hosting, etc.
Standards, Requirements and Resources for Modernizing Physical Access Control Systems
11:15am–12:00pm
In this session, experts from government agencies and the security industry will share the lessons learned in their efforts to modernize physical access control systems. The security industry fulfills a crucial role in cybersecurity and national security by providing the systems that manage credentials for federal workers and contractors and control access to federal facilities and computer networks; however, continuing use of low-assurance, legacy mechanisms leave significant risks unaddressed. This panel will examine ways agencies are seeking to modernize their physical access control systems with equipment and software meeting current federal standards and the related polices and funding mechanisms necessary to support these efforts.
