Shooter Detection Systems
Stephen Farkas began his career as an electronics technician in the U.S. Navy, having journeyed through honing his electronics skills, becoming Petty Officer 1st Class (E6), as well as serving as Color Guard leader at both of the naval bases he was stationed at before being honorably discharged from the Navy after seven years of service.
Farkas continued his pursuit of electronics in the security detection space performing roles as installer, serviceman, salesman, sales manager and operations manager. He eventually successfully operated his own business providing residential and commercial intrusion detection, video surveillance and access control solutions for more than 10 years. Farkas also served his community as councilman for the Town of New Windsor, Maryland, for 12 years, helping with decisions for multimillion-dollar projects, consistently exercising common sense leadership for the citizens of his town. Farkas sold his business to take on roles at GE Interlogix, first as sales engineer, then distribution sales manager and finally district sales manager, achieving District Manager of the Year for consistently exceeding commitments over his 10 years there.
Farkas volunteered on the Board of Directors for ESA Virginia and was the first manufacturer’s representative to become a certified trainer for Virginia’s Department of Criminal Justice Services. Most recently, he was exercising his expertise in the enterprise video solutions space for IndigoVision, a Motorola Solutions company, as the regional sales manager, helping agencies and companies improve video security on their premises via IndigoVision’s unique distributed network architecture.
Presently, Farkas is helping partners and end users detect active shooter situations via the industry leading technology from Shooter Detection Systems, which boasts 100% detection accuracy without false positives, an absolute necessity for those in the federal and U.S. Department of Defense space.
This session will explore the requirements driving adoption of indoor gunshot detection systems, and how artificial intelligence-driven technology and systems integration can result in success, proven through real-world active shooter situations.
